A trio of builders launching a new development on the southeast corner of Yonge and Front Streets is giving GTA residents a chance to name their building.

Cityzen Development Group, Castle Point Realty Partners and Fenbrook Homes are set to launch the project in the fall. The trio recently issued a press release titled Hate the Names of Condos Downtown? Here’s Your Chance to Name Our Condo.

“We hear that all the time from people,” says Sam Crignano, Principal at Cityzen, when asked if the names of buildings downtown are causing aggravation. “Most people forget the names of the developments after a period of time and just refer to the building by its address.”

How the contest works

  • Users visit the development’s website and fill in fields that give their name, street address, e-mail address and agree to the rules of the contest.
  • The user then fills in a field with their suggested name and another giving a brief summary of why they think the name is especially appropriate.
  • The site then allows the user to access their social media network to broadcast their vote to their network and encourage their ‘friends’ to vote.

Votes will be tallied in late August, the top 10 submissions chosen, and then a panel of judges made up of representatives from the developers and their key consultants will choose the first-place winner. He or she will get $5,000 in cash, and the second and third place entries win iPads.
